Couldn't get a good photo of this because of the dark background/light foreground - but during the photography process, discovered how dramatic a still life can be when the background is pitch black!

Thank you/muchas gracias  everyone for all your helpful & interesting comments, suggestions & compliments!  Mario, Silvana & Michael - yes, I see what you all mean about the shadows!  I did try to paint the occlusion shadows & cast shadow on the pepper from the lemon; maybe they need a bit more darkening (partly my excuse is that it's a bad photo :))  Thanks for the tips about setting up & checking the shadows; first I had a garlic bulb instead of the lemon & its cast shadow was not a good shape & I had to scrape it off!  So I learned in this one how important the shapes of the shadows are by trial & error, but I didn't think so much about the shadows each object cast on its neighbour.  I am just learning to paint more than one object in a still life, so really appreciate everyone's help!

Very nice Jessica!   Same thing as your last still life ......Throw a cast shadow from the lemon onto the pepper ..same value as the cast shadow on the table.  Looking at the direction of your light source, Jessica, ..there had to be a cast shadow there anyway?   You are probably thinking ..big deal ...but actually a cast shadow there would be very important.....it separates the lemon from the pepper and creates a better shape of the overall shadow pattern.    When I set up a still life, I position my light source so that one thing will cast a shadow on another ..it creates interesting shapes and rhythm.  Also remember, the shadow is darkest and warmest near the object that is casting it. .....and don't forget the occlusion shadow. .... seemingly minor points, but they will help anchor your objects to the table.

Actually, there is something strange with the shadow, but I really love that lemon!

Great job Jessica, beautiful colors...quizas oscurecer las sombras al inicio de la verdura.para no verlas flotando
