Painted from a photo taken by one of my sons during a hike near Kelowna, B.C. Tried a limited palette (UB, YO, Permanent Rose, Cad Orange + white), which was interesting. Tried to apply what I have learned about atmospheric perspective...!

I also like the way you are taken the eye back into the distance. Making the foreground rocks sort of blue help integrate the painting some and maybe spreading around some of the green of the mid ground trees both into the blue and the gold will help pull it together. Its a very appealing painting and much to applaud in it.

About what Deb mentioned, I follow her.

Thanks Deb - appreciate your interest!

Oh, I almost forgot...I remember some teaching that suggested also making lines of demarcation at 1/3 of the picture. That might also put the switch between gold to blue at that 1/3 point. Just thoughts, not expecting you to change a thing...

Thank you very much Ngaire, Linda, Lori & Deb for your kind comments!

Deb - hope you'll have time to do some painting soon!  Thx for the idea of cutting off the bottom a little - it does make a lovely painting that way.  Maybe all that foreground isn't necessary!  Something to thing about....  Glad your friends liked the duck photo!

Great to see what you are doing. I still am not able top paint as much as I want to. maybe can post something soon...I love your water and mts. best...just for fun, try placing your hand over the bottom half of the foreground(bottom half only from the tree line to bottom of the painting) of this on line pic. When I do this, I like it even better. The way it is now I find my eye bouncing back and forth between the gold and the blue. When I paint, I almost never see these things until I look at the pic on my computer. Really love the way the Master Artist does it too! :) I sent the ducks photo to my friend with a gift shop and another who does awesome woodwork; they both loved them!

Hi Michael & Stu - thanks a lot for the input - in my next painting, I'll do some experimenting with pthalo green - I don't have viridian right now, so will start with that.  And yes, you answered my question very well Michael!

Stu - thanks very much for your very nice comments!  But I can't take credit for the shapes of the lakes; they are exactly like this in real life & I didn't need to change anything!  They were created by the Master Artist!! This area of B.C. where some of my family live is astoundingly rich in natural beauty.
