I forgot to add that I've just discovered Peter Fiore. You are probably familiar with his work, you share a love for working with snow as a central part of your paintings. He also works not just winter scenes, but almost always paints them with the short time before twilight. I am drawn to the simplicity/complexity of a snow painting that you and he both excel at, probably because of the extreme to subtle value contrasts. And of course, Fiore's punch of color is almost breathtaking. As I said, something to aspire to!
Hello Carolyn...So thanks for such thoughtful remarks.....I have spent allot of time in snow, ...hiking, skiing...cross country skiing...a bit of climbing...in and around ice....but it has always spoken to me....It may be my Russian heritage, or just the fact that winter has such a feeling to it...from isolation, to those beautiful , sparkly , sunny days....or snows abstract motifs .....and usually so temporary...,,,,,,,,Thanks so much again....your comments have inspired me.......Warm Regards..Tom
Really enjoy viewing your work, Thomas. You inspire me! Love those colorful, juicy paint and brush strokes, and your compositions are always most interesting. (Just curious, if snow is your heritage...is that NM snow or earlier experience elsewhere?) I admire those of you who can be out in cold, wet weather, studio for me on those days, but getting anxious to try the hand en plein air, and soon. You are a prolific artist..another area I aspire to.
