Afternoon Tree 12" x 12" acrylic on canvas. After doing the waipu lesson I tried to give it a go on my own with one of my photo. (I will post photo also)

Thanks for feedback.  Am going to give this one another go since looking at photo and painting after postingI could see differance really jump out

Hi Carolyn.  The warm grass in your reference photo ..... you really do need that in your painting.  A nice design of the grass with a nice design of the snow leading up to the tree ...wow!  Also, extend those background trees so they make a dark foil against your light tree ....it does not need to be too dark ....maybe a medium value blue/violet which will play against your yellow/orange tree (a natural complimentary pair).   The snow and grass could move from the sunlight into the shadow created by your tree ....anyway, just a few suggestions?
