Thanks Craig, I see what Michael said though!    Hopefully all of these tips will come naturally one of these days! :)

Thanks Michael, I can see that now!  Whipped this out in a few hours while my grandchildren were visiting.  Last day of challenge, and I wanted to get it in...again, went verbatim with the challenge photo.  Have to start taking some time to think before I paint!!!  This was my first painting on watercolor color canvas, kind of tricky cause it beaded and color lifted, but I think worthwhile trying again.  Wanted to do try again in oils, so will put your great critiques to use...THANKS!

Great depth in this painting Candi! .....the long row of trees in the middle ground is what is known as an "eye stop".  It is called that because when you get to it, you cannot get any further in your painting.  That means the great job you did in the atmospheric distance, is all for naught.  Suggest you take out the left side of that shape so we can get through to the other side.

Thanks Pauline, someone in the "Let's Paint New Mexico" group said the same thing!  I've heard this before on other works  i've done too, think perhaps I might be "out there" even more than I thought!  :)
