Thank you, again! I like your description of notes or markers.

Thanks for the story! I think it`s perfect the way you include them. some painters would just paint them into the landscape but because you put them more on the surface they are more like notes, or markers which makes us curious and think a little more, and now that i know the story i enjoy the whole painting even more!

Thank you for your comments and question!
As I indicated before, this was a special experience. At 6:00AM one morning, Dan left their cabin to climb Mt. Titlis (it is the highest peak on the right). His wife and I had a leisurely breakfast, and a quiet morning filled with friend talk. A bit before noon, we went to the foot of the mountain and rode three different trams to the summit. It was absolutely breathtaking! We crossed a glacier! Clouds hugged the mountain in wonderful, dramatic ways.... Even in late September snow and ice were deep at the top.

We entered a wonderful restaurant, picked lunch and waited a few minutes for Dan, our successful climber, to join us.. As we left the restaurant, he quietly handed his wife a pebble that he picked up for her from the summit.

So I included the little rock in the painting. The flowers are some that grow on Mt. Titlis, and the leaf is one from the maples which also grow there.

Generally, I like to include items that make being at that particcualr place personal, that create the texture of all we behold.

can i ask about the flowers on the right? You have similar arrangements in other paintings.

Thank you, Andrea!
I love it when a client gives one free reign! These people did and it allowed full expression to come forth. I live in mounntains, but nothing like the Alps! They are stunning!

They love the painting and so do I.... sometimes commission work is not that way....

this is so beautiful, i really love that it has such a strong and unique style. I want to believe it's very realistic even thought it's so far from realistic, and i love that it's not trying to be realistic, it almost makes it more convincing. it's almost like how you might remember a place that you've idealized.
absolutely beautiful.
