Trying to simplify this scene & emphasize what I liked about it, I went through a LOT of paint & still didn't get it right! I learned a lot about making mud & applying thick paint :) The workshop deadline has passed, so I am posting 2 photos, one is half way through (maybe I should have stopped there!) The 2nd photo is taken inside as it's a rainy day today. Hmmm......can't win 'em all!!!!

Thank you very much for your lovely comment, Maria!
Wow!! Jessica this is great. Good on you for doing your own thing. love your painting and thanks for posting it with your reference photo.
Thanks Olivia for your nice comment - yes, I don't find it so easy to simplify, without making the painting too childish! But it's a good point that the emphasis should be on what attracted us to the scene & to simplify the rest - but achieving that is another matter!
Great work Jessica.Simplifying is not so simple is it!
Unfortunately I didnt have time to do this month's work shop but have got the video to do later.
i would agree with Lori's suggestions
Lori, of course I don't mind you sharing your thoughts - I am glad you do & it's always helpful to get an opinion from another artist! It's kind of you to spend time looking & commenting - thank you!
Thank you too Cristina for your very kind comment! I'm so glad you like it!
Beautifully done Jessica! You did a great job!! Love the water and the reflections!!
Thank you for your very nice comment, Ningning!
Thank you very much Lori for taking the time to look & make suggestions; I really appreciate it. The paint is still wet, so I could indeed blend it more in the background. About the warm grass in the background, I actually did that deliberately because I want the eye to continue around the curve of the water & follow the light there - but you are right that it would recede more if I made it less bright.
Very elegent and appealing. I love them.
