I was intending to join the Feb workshop but events conspired against me. Thought I would post my painting although not in the workshop. Comments welcome.

Thanks Michael, good spotting re the rocks. I had noticed this bit ended up concentrating on the water and boats. So good to know that you noticed the issue, I like your suggestion and will attend to that. Thanks for such great constructive citique.

Bob, great painting.  I was going to paint this one myself!!!    I had planned to move the larger boat to the apex of the triangles formed by the reflection and bluff .... and then change the color to a red/ orange boat.  You have chosen a nice value structure with the boat as the darkest dark ..very nice.  Love the shapes in the water and the sinuous line of the reflection.  Very nice handling of values to achieve your depth.  The only thing that I think you should take a closer look at, is the line rocks ...they are all the same size, shape, value, etc.  You have repetition ..but you need variety there.   I would suggest you combine some of the smaller rocks together to form 1 large rock ..kind of break up that sequence. Great painting!
