Hmm, bit literal and laborious maybe?

Sweet home! The angles of lines of roof, door, window ... the lines have to point to the same point right? I will do some study work.

Thanks a lot, Laura. I guess building are my main subject! Guess they speak of 'home' to me. THe English just love property ;D. The persepctive shouldn't be too hard - they're just 'blocks'...

Jon, I like this one so much. I really like the effect of red leaves falling down. It give the painting alive! I think you are really good on painting buildings. Your painting is improved a lot!!! I like to learn painting buildings but it is really challenging as I don't know much about perspective.

PS the sun is high up and slightly to the left - shining almost straight down on the roofs

Nice painting Jon.  You warmed up the foreground nicely.  Good shapes, color, value structure.   Stu

Hi Jon, nice light on the greenhouse that does look like the focal to me, it has nice detail and believable light. I am enjoying studying the light and shapes that are inside this structure. The light touch of the bare bush on the right is a nice compliment to the structure and sends the viewer back to the focal. Now I see what I think are a few problems, the cedar tree sticking up and out of the painting takes the eye out into never-never land and emphasizes this area that has light source problems. I don't understand where the light is coming from on the roof ? The chimneys and most of the foliage have a warm light coming from the left front but the roof of the white building has the light source from another direction on the roof. The white wall is not quiet right to me I would down play that wall with some grey shadow similar to the other building. The orange dobs by the cedar bring the eye there and again call attention to that problem area. Simplify that area so that the greenhouse can shine. And one more little thing the dark shadow in the foreground also takes the viewer out, shorten it to make an eye path toward the focal. Now, I love the little greenhouse and appreciate all the work on detail and value that makes a charming scene.

My mistake, Jon!  Yes, your focal point is quite obvious really! The roof of the greenhouse has lots to draw the eye to it!

Hmmm, I was seeing the white greenhouse/verandah as the focal point... ...I guess eveything behind it could be toned down - but I was afraid of losing the effect og light being refleted/bouncing around?? It sure is hard to work out color temperature!
