further good points. Thanks. I will work on it.
I agree Michael, couldn't put my finger on it... maybe if he had a fish jumping out of the water in the foreground, or more larger rocks?... How about a deer drinking?
Hi Jim. Interesting discussion ....I think the point here, Jim, is that while you have painted everything very good ..your painting lacks ..CONCEPT ... Is your painting about the meadow, reflections, contrasts, color ..??? Try to focus on what inspired you to paint this ... then emphasize only that in your painting. Having El Cap subdued is fine ..BUT ..something else must come forward and be the star ...everything is fighting for attention.
no you are right, your painting is right on with what Richard wanted, I was just saying that personally, I would not use THAT particular mountain as a subdued object... lol no matters... it looks great!
Thanks, Sharon for your suggestion and comment. I felt that Richard's charge to us was to simplify a resource photo. While El Capitan is a major attraction in Yosemite, I feel that the valley floor is so beautiful and peaceful, especially around the creek that flows through it. Making El Capitan the focus would take away from that and complicate the painting of the creek. I do believe I will paint this again with the mountain as the focus to see what happens. Jim
nice painting job...but el capiton (spelling) should be the focus, too big and important to be subdued I think. Looks like your main focus is on the foreground rocks? Water looks very nice and believable.
