Perhaps I will look into the Bear Festival idea. We have one similar here in Alaska, but it is the Eagle Festival.

Another thing, Christine ...I love all the contrasts you have set up ...contrasts of hue, value, line, texture, direction.

Christine, you might consider submitting this to the "Bear Valley Music Festival" next year.  Bear Valley is a ski resort here in Central California.  They have an annual music festival, and artists submit paintings, with a bear theme, for their poster! .... I bet this would be selected!!!

Great work Christine!!   4 beautiful, well place shapes!!!  Your subdued background .with its varied colors ..and middle light value ..support the dark shape of the bear.  Your lightest light ..the nose ..ties everything together.  I love how you have created the unity in your painting by size dominance ..the blue shape ...repeated with smaller shapes of the same blue tones.  The colors of your painting repeat in your shapes ..once again .creating harmony and unity.  I really love how you introduced that strong complimentary orange near the focal point, but subdued the orange in the other areas ....that is awesome!    I really don't think you would want a more "detailed" piece.
