Original oil painting by Jeri McDonald. 16x20 canvas. I created this painting from flowers I picked here in our fields that grow wild and from several photographs I took.

Gorgeous painting, Jeri!
Hey thanks everyone! I like this one myself and I usually don't like my own work so that says something! I actually experimented with the idea of making the oils more like water color from one of Richard's videos where he painted a bunch of brush from Richard Schmid's ideas. I do like the technique for flowers but not for most landscapes. I've used it on some landscapes only to have it just get mostly covered up. That is the hardest part of this technique is leaving it alone and just layering over it leaving the brush strokes beneath.
Surprised it hasn't got more 'likes' ( :) ! = ) - it really speaks to me!
Nice use of thick paint on the flowers then softer strokes and thin paint as we go back into the painting. The color used help to communicate the warm weather. It is hot this time of year in Fresno. I'm in San Jose and not that far from Fresno. Check out Northern California Art Fusion, I belong and it is based in Gilroy. Stu and I have recently participated in Gallery showing where I sold a painting. You should join the guild, it would be fun to meet you.
Lovely. I lovethe loose brushwork in the foreground
This one is going in our local Fair here in Fresno.
