Oil on Canvas Board 5 X 7
This is a small study for a larger painting. The reflections drew my attention initially. I went a little crazy with the palette.
The biggest difficulty for me was fighting the tooth of the canvas. Eventually I went with it, the broken color, and I had fun.

Michael, love your "crazy palette" You are beginning to get a lot more color in your paintings and I for one, really like seeing it and the changes from your very somber work which is well done too. As always, your "people are interesting and well rendered, they always have a story to tell...not surprising since that is what you do in your "other" life as well. You accomplished a LOT in a very small space here, that canvas board texture thing, is part of the reason I've started cutting my own canvas...might just glue it over those boards I sill have left! So glad to see you painting. Looking forward to the next!
Love the colour blocks in this & the way you've made the sidewalks glisten!
Michael! Thanks for the comment and the encouragement.
I'm glad the colors work for you. Had me worried. I'd love to follow on your advice and darken the reflection, but... I painted it as a Christmas gift. So it is finished and gone.
Happy Christmas, by the way. I hope you are having a good holiday season.
Hi Linda - Thanks for the comment. The shapes really do hold it all together. Thanks for the 'like'.
Very well done Michael!! ... I think the colors are fine! ..It looks like a primary color scheme? You have introduced enough neutrals to harmonize and link the more saturated colors nicely. I do think painting a darker reflection of the central figure will give you a better design for your comp. It will certainly tie the figure to the canvas and not have him "floating" out there in space.
