Exactly Jon!! ....I was banking on you noticing how he solves those problems.  I don't think it is a rule, but just something to be aware of.

My screen says this image has nearly 500 views - that's weird, no?

Thanks, Anne. At first sight one could maybe think Curtis' work is a bit banal - but watching him do it on the DVDs and close inspection show great painting mastery..

Michael, I think he maybe does let them criss cross - but minoor , not major, ones and the lines tend to be broken (as they just catch the light here and there)?? I guess in a beginner's painting the erros just cumulate; whereas a master can maybe break rules (deliberately or not) and still have it work? ...

Great feeling of harmony in the palette. I checked out David Curtis, you have emulated him very well !

David Curtis ...what a Master that guy is!!!! :)  His painting partner/friend is another artist ..Trevor Chamberlain ..but I have not heard about him for a long time?   Every time I see Curtis painting, I just want to put my brushes  away and go take up chess or something.   BTW, did you happen to notice if Curtis avoided crisscrossing any of the mooring lines? ..just curious.
