Oil 8 x 10... first attempt before watching the video. I'm going to try again to see if I can loosen up even more. Great exercise! :-)

Thanks for all the feedback everybody. :-) Montalvo I know what you are saying... I also am working hard on subtle color changes and softer tones and letting brush marks lay...very challenging for me to not get too bright and too fiddly with detail.
Hi Debbie
Marvelous colors and reflections............smiles : ))
Hi Debbie...im always trying to stay away from having the sky and the water look the same. Im still learning about color and when i saw your painting i see that you can have the same color and change the hues and add warm colors. I really studied your painting. The reflection is a splash of colors that balances everything out. The red boat at the distance was a good, because it brought my focus to the background. Something that i need to learn. Anyway ... good job.
good one. :-)
What I am enjoying about this... is the lovely clean, bright colours. Lovely.
I appreciate the comments, thanks all of you! I wasn't pleased with just the boat, so decided to include a couple supporting characters. I'm sure that doesn't follow the lesson completely, but I kind of had to go with my gut. I think I fiddled too much with the boat and want to break up a couple of those lines on the side of the boat. The horizon line still does seem too prominent and I am tempted to smudge it a bit with my finger.
I love this one!
Been looking at Michael's which is very nice too, and I wonder if the little boats are more of a distraction???? What do you think?
Nice! I do like the colors.
