A scene of the slabstick movie Naked Gun comes into my mind: the famous singer Enrico Palazzo is shacked and has to watch police officer Frank singing the national anthym on tv...subtitled "Enrico Palazzo". Maybe Richard feels like Enrico when seeing this :-D
Aurelia, very good question. Excatly the one i am busy with....
I did the drawing in oil, with very thin, almost monochrome paint. With the goal to get similarity as soon as possible. I use the painta like charcoal... Remove it with kitchen towels where need. I squint a lot at photo and painting. I have taken a photo after this process, some 45 min into it. I am using my ipad and cannot post it into the comments here. I will post it for you on facebook. I am not so sure whether i am on the right track. One thing i am very sure of is that one must strive for likeliness from the very start. It never just happens at a later stage.

Beautifully painted !  The color palette with purple and golden tones is very effective
