This ended up like a golden nugget, or not nearly like Richard´s lovely golden colors. Anyway this is my version og the broken color. I had to stop for a few days start again having to find my colors again which might have made a difference. I do not have time to do another painting as I am going to the mainland to teach some method in oil. I am really looking forward to it as I have been there teaching over many years and going there now with even more knowledge, thanks to Richard.

Good information! It seems like Richard didn't really cover the theory of this based on the examples I've seen. Maybe we should all send our $20 to Michael instead ; ) . (I'm saving pennies and didn't join this w/s)
Thank you so much for your comment on my "broken color" Michael, I really appreciate it and will keep your explanation in my draw of knowledge which keeps expanding, thank you!
Looks pretty good Steinunn. :) When I squint, your values look right on. For everyone: One of the things we must do when painting broken color, is to maintain the integrity of the value, light, and hue of that plane we are painting....BUT, we also must maintain the TEXTURE of the subject we are painting. So, if we were painting an orange in broken color effect, we would want to show the texture of the orange.......Well, same thing with the block....paint the texture also. It seems a lot of us are trying so hard to achieve broken color, that we are forgetting about value and color relationships. When we do get the value and color right, we ignore TEXTURE. Keep that in mind when you are painting your block..this exercise is about painting a subject (the block) in broken color ...not just broken color and forget everything else.
Thank you kindly for your comments dear Laura and Ann.
You have done wonderful job on this one Steinunn!
Your cube has a lovely glow !
