You are quite right. My mountains and sky didn't come out in the photo like the original but I didn't think about the parallel lines. I also need to put some dark lines under the roof line of the shed to,give it more depth. I find it amazing how the photo shows up so much. Thank you for the comments

Dana - I like your colours and reflections and the fact that you have got some distance in the mountains and good shadow on the boatshed. I like it when people help me get better but not everyone does!

If you want some suggestions for improvement then maybe think about the composition. I've been told that generally you should avoid near parallel lines as in your waterfront and mountain ranges so if you angled the mountains down and put more sky in the right hand corner it should look more natural.

Hope you

Enjoying the colours in this Dana, and yes your water does have an icy look!

Thank you, Rita. I hadn't thought about the water looking icy but as I looked at it again you are right. I guess with the fall like colors the imagination goes to colder water. Sorry to hear your colors didn't work I found the ones I used (golden or liqudtex) worked ok.
. I will have a look at your submission

Well done, Dana, I love the strong colours. And how your water too looks frozen. I really like that, no sailing today only iceskating. I like it that there are a few icy paintings around this workshop.
I had much problems with my three colours, Azo YellowDeep, Naphtal Red Light and Ultramarine, all from van Gogh. I just didn't get them as bright and beautifull as I would have liked. I just choose the wrong medium, watercolours. I wanted to go for a second try, but my entry at the workshop ended the 15th. And with some other issues making life a bit difficult, I didn't much painting. I'll try it some other day just for myself and to get more controle on watercolours.

Using 3 colours plus white was a challenge until I got into it and then it went smoothly and rather quickly.  We've had sunshinge lately so I took the photo outside and that worked much better.  I'm enjoying all the other photos and will write some comments soon now that I have mine finished.
