Oil on stretched canvas 30"x30". This is the remake as per Michael's suggestions ie light on water, left hill, bit of colour on left trees and bringing water to foreground(it does come more to the right at the bottom but does not show in photo very much). I also added a little soft clouds onto hills beyond and brought in some trees on waters edge behind right front trees. Would appreciate if you would please let me know what you think on this makeover - and which one preferred. I think there is now bit too much light on water. Your thoughts please. Many thks. Jen

Hello and thanks to those below who have commented on this makeover changed due to Michael's suggestions. Interested to see others views on this also.  Seems like this is viewed as much better with changes made, tho still feel a little too much light on water, but may be just my way of thinking? Haven't done one like this before and possibly may not be what the galleries in NZ like (as are different to US ones). Like Michael will be interested to see other views re this.  Thks again. jen

Michael as you can see undertook suggestions made by you on this one, and as said before big thanks for helping me out, as really was 'fed up' with it.   Appreciated immensely.

Hi Jen,  By doing all that, you have created a lot more planes ..each one taking the viewer INTO the painting from front to back.  Nice job Jen.

Jen, The painting has come alive with the changes you made.  Beautiful!

Beautiful Jen!! ...I personally think you nailed it!!   I love the way the water is gradated from dark to light .culminating in the spotlight!! ....the eye now moves in a nice slow "S" curve via your lights.  The relationship between the light on the water and the darks was handled with good restraint ..any  brighter, and you would have messed up your concept ....the tranquil mood of late evening.  Really interested to see what others think!!!
