Thanks Stuart for your comments.  I painted the cloud studies on a 12x12 canvas, so I guest I overlooked the fact that I centered this one in the 6x6 framework.  It would have been better if I had offset it a bit and varied the shape as well.

Nita, I brought this into photoshop and did a check on my values and found they were indeed a little to close and that caused a loss in depth.  The distant mountain should have been a bit lighter and the horizontal foreground lighter than the distant mountain.  

This was a great exercise - hopefully next time I'll improve.  It was the first time I concentrated on clouds.

Nice clouds, but way too symmetric with focal point dead center and rising--sucking your eyes right out of the painting.   The other 3 have a much better composition.  Brushstrokes are very nice and color harmony good.   Stu

I like the vertical feel of this cloud.  I really gives a sense of how a storm is building.  I don't get as much depth here though.  Good work.
