Thanks to each one of you - it's lovely to get comments!!!

Ann, I recently explored the work of Henri Martin (he's from here) - there was a post on Lines and Colors about him  -    http://linesandcolors.com/2014/04/22/henri-martin/    - but he's pointillist not fauve. Derain and Matisse + other fauves + a bundle of painters before:after the fauves have painted Collioure - it's one of the 'big' French subject sites - see the article on Wikipeidia? or the BOTTOMof the French Wikipedia page on it https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Collioure

Lovely painting, Jon!  Interesting composition & I really like the little shapes of colour suggesting the groups of people & umbrellas.  I agree with Ann; no reason for that "grrrr"!

Jon much improved !  Good composition and eye movement around the painting. You have fixed the problems of the last one . . . the ground looks solid, the bright figures take the viewer back into the painting. The building and sky are still strong. I like the light on the umbrellas and buttress. The tree adds softness and interest to the building and helps to fill the sky with an interesting shape. Is there a reference for a painting by a Fauvest that is of a similar composition ? Congratulations on a very good painting
