This is how the painting really looks, the colors. I'm surprised to see the first upload was not accurate! This is the touch up that I did on the front building and some water color. I also added yellow to the window tops on the orange building to make it warmer!

no, I appreciate your suggestions, Michael, I actually want to repaint it using your suggestions and another technique, painting fast and furious!!  :)

Okay Sharon.   It was just a suggestion of other possibilities ..  No matter what you decide to do, your painting is still beautiful!!!  :))

thanks for your comments Michael I really don't see how brick can reflect the water though. I agree that the orange and yellow building could be taller and run off the painting that would look good but the far distant buildings are really not that far away they are just across the canal so I don't want them too small.

Beautiful water, Sharon.  Lovely.

Nice contrast of color Sharon ...the wall and reflections really pop!!!  The gray background accentuates the color.  The fact that the distant row of buildings is taller then the near buildings, kind of mess up the illusion of depth.  Size differential is one of our many tools that we use to provide "clues" to achieving the illusion of depth.  I would suggest you bring those walls all the way up.  Now, I would recommend that you save intense yellows and oranges for flowers and garments,  and not for buildings.  I recommend you use a duller yellow and orange.  You have a wonderful opportunity here to accentuate the texture of those buildings, as well as their color.  Also, try not to get caught up in delineating all of those windows ..build up your walls with paint, then paint the suggestions of windows into the wet paint ..try not to "draw" windows.  Don't forget to paint some of the color of the water into the buildings .....you must infuse your painting with all of the colors ..do not isolate one color in one spot ...you must create harmony.

Thank you for "liking" my painting!  Between this one and the first "Colors on the Canal" there are 10 "likes"!  Thank you everyone!

Yes, Liz, I would love to see it when you are finished.  It's a photo I found online.

What I picture is boats along side the buildings with ladders leaning up against the buildings. LOL. I can see a lot of man over board. I love the color of the buildings and water. May I paint this for myself. I won't post it to the challenge.
