Colours of the shuk

The challenge for me here was to keep my notan structure intact, trying to keep the fabrics within the darker tonal ranges. And not to overdo it on the details - which is actually so much fun to do I had to stop myself! Used a limited palette (White, YO, CR medium, AC, UB and Phthalo Green)

Actually I didn't increase the contrast - the photo of the painting came out quite accurately for some reason. There are many dramatic places like this in the shuk when you come out of a dark area into brilliant sunshine - fabulous place for photography!

Did you slightly increase the contrast of the photo, Jessica? I would have imagined you would need to for it to be true to the original? The 'framing' composition is lovely!
