On the left, my painting started from a plein air painting I did. On the right, redesigned (completely!) by an artist friend of mine, who took the key concepts/parameters into account and altered reality to obtian, what I feel is, "poetic" reality. As Stape Kearns says "design must be installed into a painting"... ? So must what the artist wants to say?

Thanks, Stu. Now I've got to remember the lesson!

Jon, NO COMPARISON!; the painting on the right is much more interesting.  Your sky is a little too busy and detracts a bit from the focal point (buildings), but good lead in with the muddy and rutted road, better eye stopper with the tall tree on the right, and the water behind really draws the eye back into the picture much better.  Thanks for posting them side by side; much easier to see what you did.   Nice work.   Stu
