Thanks Michael and Darya. Stu
Stu, wonderful sky and the trees!
Lovely painting, Stu. You have captured a wonderfully peaceful mood in this piece. I especially like the way you have broken the outlines of the trees, and softened the progression through to them by scumbling the atmosphere on the left. The foreground strip is a stroke of masterful composition. Well done.
Thanks Gina. In a nutshell, the way to do reflections is to keep your brushstrokes vertical when laying them in wet on wet on the water, then soften the edges with a dry brush and finally break them up with some horizontal strokes. The reflections always have lighter darks and darker lights and are grayer (desaturated) than the objects being reflected. If you want an excellent course from a master painter on painting water, get Johannes Vloothuis' "Essentials of Painting Water" ; he will teach you how to paint water. If you don't know of him already (he lives in Hamilton, Ontario), check him out at www.improvemypaintings.com . Stu
Good Morning, Stuart. I love this painting, especially the reflections on the water (which I find hard to do). Thanks for sharing.
Nice warm clouds and a peaceful scene.
Very nice Stu.
