Thanks a lot, Jim - as soon as I saw the scene I knew I had to (try and) paint it. I just love this sort of scene - If I run out of projects this winter (brrrr!), I'll try another version of it... !
Jon, I keep looking at this one, and I just love the bands of color moving horizontally with those contrasting vertical shapes. Really nice!
Ta for looking, Charles
Good rendering of the boats and perspective
Hey, thanks Michael!
Candi - the lighthouse was a study and th study revealed that the dunes and fence need much further consideration!!! - I'll have to see what happens second time round on the big final version! We could always have a look at our recent paintings to see if the foreground is a systematic problem?
It seems to me that Michael's teaching is based on shape design and painting the light... ? Personall I want to go a littl 'abstract' and have really strong (thickish) brushwork...
Oh, I just have been struggling with my paintings Jon, composition, color, and especially the foregrounds it seems, and your strokes on that one kind of remind me of my strokes...No Offense! :)
I've been working on a little one today, that I have probably scraped 10 times!
Just love this one!!!
Love the perspective, well done!
Great painting Jon! You really captured the light on this one.
