I like the feeling of depth you have created with the variety of the sizes of the birds.
Fantastic! .. thank you Siobhan. It is still a very good painting Nancy ... does not need much to improve it. :)
Thanks for the critique. Your points are excellent. The waves are too even, I can see that now. I also need to practice the seagulls to understand their shapes better. I appreciate the feedback.
HI Nancy. Great job on the sky and atmosphere. A. couple of things you might want to consider: 1. put your waves in linear perspective .... Beginning with the first wave near the shore, they would all end at a common vanishing point on the horizon .. they would not be in parallel tracks unless you were looking at a direct frontal view ..which you are not in this scene. 2. You have a lot of repetitiveness .. which is good .. but you lack variety .. a very important compositional element. examples: You have 3 large gulls all the same size, angular movement, color, value, edges, etc. One of these 3 gulls must dominate and become the focal point .. so you must come up with a way to subordinate 2 of those 3 gulls. Other examples of repetition with no variety .. are the distances between your waves, and the sizes and shapes of the other flying gulls. ... you did a nice job of putting those into the atmosphere, BTW! Okay, hopes that helps. :))
lovely and peaceful scene
Dreamy, very nice!
This was fun, learning to paint the seagulls distant, mid and close. It makes a landscape come alive.
