Boy, Terry, I've got to say that your painting is dynamite. It's done in a very loose style, yet it is really clear what it represents. I'd kill (almost) to figure out how to do that!

Thanks everyone for you good comments.  I agree with all of them.  I've never done a quick acrylic before so I thought I'd see what I could do without too much thinking and this was the result.  I felt as well that it needs more detail and the white stick needed more but I stopped there not wanting to jump into my usual self of putting in so much detail and driving myself nuts doing it.  Acrylic is very new to me so your comments help me to see what others do and what I can do to improve.  The cropping was well rec'd but as you mentioned Anne the post could move over more.  I've started another one trying to incorporate all the comments.

I like this - its very inviting - I can almost smell the wood bark on the ground and the old tree - then I want to go over and see what's in the barn. Composition is great - only not sure about the white stick going out the top right hand corner and maybe move the post along to the right a wee bit more - its a little bit close to the middle. Thanks.

Hello Terry

I also like this cropped image. My only suggestion would be the tree trunk could use some specific detail of texture which would read as tree trunk.  If I had not studied the photo over and over myself, I wouldn't know what I was looking at was a tree. This is known as itness and this is missing in your foreground, with the tree trunk, grasses and fallen branches. I don't think it will take much to get this itness and on the whole it's a strong notan.
