Great suggestions, I will definitely try them. Thank you.
Jess, I can always see things that don't look right in other artists' work better than my own; most of us have that same flaw. Some helpful things to do whan you are not sure what is wrong are: ask someone else, use a mirror or turn your painting upside down, take a photo and look at it on your computer in black and white. Also helpful are the things Richard is trying to teach us because you can do these after you paint it from your photos. Most of the time what is off is the value structure, but sometimes it is color or the design of the composition. Just keep at it; this was a really strong painting for your first go round with these competitions and I think you will get quite a few compliments on it as people go in and vote. Anytime you want some help just ask, because this is a friendly site and the artists who critique others work are usually both helpful and considerate. Most of us are still learning. Stu
Thanks Stu, your absolutely right, that is exactly what the problem is. I really appreciate your feedback and I'm looking forward to learning from Richards critiques. I have alot to learn! Jess
Thank you Stu, I still feel unsure about the foreground. Any suggestions on what I could of done better?
Thank you SO much Patricia!
