Thanks Jim and Ann,  I had just done a plein air workshop with Pittsburgh PA artist, Ron Donoughe.  He has you mix 3-4 "parent colors", to use for the whole painting.  These get lightened, darkened, warmed, or cooled to create the rest of the colors in the painting.  Sort of like using a limited palette.  It is the trick for the color harmony.  Thanks !
