Thanks for the tips! Should the painting changes be done on top or started again? I have never been able to paint on top....people here seem to have wonderful results when they do...how do they do this?

Good concept Caroline and good start.  Okay, so let's give it some tweaks.  Make this a RADIATING LINE COMPOSITION ...Redirect and connect your clouds into a pattern that takes you into the sun area....overlap and connect.  Your clouds closest to the sun will carry the yellows, oranges, and reds ..farther away from the sun, make them blue/violet.  Put the bright sun in with Wt + yellow, then add a little orange and go out some more, then add red and go out some more, then add alizirin and go out to the edges (on the right side). Use white to lighten.   The area above the sun, mix yellow/orange/Wt and paint that area ..gradually fade into your warm blue up to a cooler darker blue at the zenith.  Use the same colors you did for the sky colors and put that into the water in the same order.  Mix a darker blue then you did for the sky and paint the water on the right edge ...carefully blend into the light colors of the sun reflections until you have a smooth transition.  Paint a lighter, warmer version of your sky colors and paint them into the blue of the ocean ..negatively painting the waves ..the light you put on here will be the troughs between the waves. Paint your foliage darker and warmer ...you will eventually paint a halo rim light around the tall grass.  Finally, take your palette knife and pile on thick impasto highlights on top of the wave crest and where you want sparkle.    That's It!!!!!  Oh, any waves crossing your light path will be warm ..(reddish or orangy)
