Sorry the photo's not straight. I have problems with the shadows under the eaves - which I wanted to be green (local color) with orange reflected light - and I dislike my vegetation so much that I think I'll redo it - with less of these impressionistic touches maybe... I'll try ad get some counterchange where the tress on the left are against the sky too...

It is a beautiful, romantic painting Jon.
Silvana - I know - heh heh ;)
Ann - OK - thanks (its' late afternoon hot overhead sun) but it won't be for a while tho' - daughter's here from Hong Kong!
Michael - lol!
Silvana, I thought it was part of the painting until I read your statement.
Please repost when you take Michaels advice to tone down and warm your sky. When I view your painting, I don't know where to look there are contrasting and energetic strokes all over the place and not a clear eye path. What is the time of day and light source ? Lots of work and talent here, just small changes to make it a masterpiece. Remember that we are supposed to be HAPPY PAINTING ! Love and encouragement to you :)
I thought at first that those daisies were part of the painting , at first glance.... ! :)
Gosh, Micheal - I don't know where you find the energy!! It sounds like very good advice (as usual!) - I'll try it - you've cheered me up
P.S. ...to Jon. Jon, yes, you can actually paint your sky darker then the light of the house (because man made objects can be lighter)...but you must keep the sky LIGHTER IN VALUE then ANY OF YOUR DARK COLOR NOTES. Now here is the reason for that: Your sky is in the light family, your darks are in the dark (which means absence of light) family .......never the twain shall meet!!!!! So, as long as your sky in lighter then the lightest thing in the dark family ..your okay.
Jon, before you change your "impressionistic" trees, undo the impressionistic sky. You might find ..to your amazement, that it is the sky that is making the painting look "busy". I would lighten and warm your sky...with the left side of the sky at least lighter in value then the value under your eaves. Gradate to the right with cerulean or UB + lemon yellow .. anyway, just add more warmth to the sunlit side ..and lighter in value. You can still use broken color in the sky, just not so pointillistic looking. I bet you that your trees will not bother you and you will leave those impressionistic touches? ..then LEAVE IT ALONE ..it looks great!
