11x14 study of an English Cottage in oils
trying to soften everything with a scumble first. My colors are off but this is practice with color families and harmonies. I am unhappy with my windows. If anyone has a way to paint better windows I am up for anything. Thank yall. :D

You think the colors are off? I think the colors are fantastic! Lovely broken color!
I was just wondering about colour Manneherrin - you have got complimentary yellow and violet in the house and garden - I was thinking maybe just a touch of pinky/red flowers in the garden to compliment your greens?
This composition is working really well with the beautiful warm greens/yellows in the garden - the fence is perfect - the colours of the house with the amazing light on the roof is spot on - your background is cool loose and understated - your windows are great - i would say the bottom far right window is the most believable to me, if you could get the one above that looking similar - but that's just being picky - it's a beauty of a painting! :-}
Beautiful - the windows look great too! You've captured the light!
ok thank you Michael. I think Im just going to paint this over entirely until i get it right.
Well I would help you with the windows, Manneherrin, if I saw something wrong with them .. they look good to me. I love the painting. .. Beautiful lights and luminous shadows. A nice arrangement of darks that are tied together rather well. My only suggestion would be to put your lightest light next to your darkest dark over at the right of the portico .. switch the foliage .. that real bright one at the left bottom, with the middle value light green one sitting at the right edge of the portico. Try not to have the lightest value in your painting near any of the edges ..put it in your focal area.
