Pastel on Wallis

These are pastels Jim and to be honest I just kinda pick up what I think I need for the painting and go from there. Our workshop helped with this to do the blue \ orange palette . One thing I have learned ( and I do live in the Northern part of Canada ) is that snow is many colours and rarely white at all. In fact near the horizon is your warmest part of the snow . I try to use warm shadow in a cool light and cool shadows in a warm light .. if that makes sense. Most of the colours in this are cool except for the sun and its reflections. I know snow. Hah.
Great mood in this! And, I love the way it "draws me into the scene." (Sorry about using that phrase again, but dang, I just can't think of a better way to say it...)
I'm trying a winter scene right now, and I'm struggling with the snow shadows. Mine were too bright at first, so I toned them down with a complementary "orange-ish" blob, and they become too warm for the cool scene. What did you use for the darker blue on here, Donna?
Love the atmosphere and light effects Donna!
