Michael, you are way too kind and I appreciate so much for taking time to give us such great advises, as I said before I've learned a lot since I've been here. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
Wow, this is very nice Christina!! Beautiful complimentary color scheme and very good value arrangement. I like how you darkened the foreground so we can enter the painting and go toward the light. I love the curving lines of the tree trunks .which gives such great emphasis (by contrast) to the lamp post (your focal point) . A straight tree trunk would have messed with that relationship. I like the way you have balanced your composition with the weight of the darks on the right side ..balanced by the weight of the lamp and the lesser darks on the left. A very nice asymmetrical design. It looks like you really did your homework on this one ..congratulations on a great painting. There IS one thing , Cristina, that I hesitantly point out ...that window on the building is too bright (due to simultaneous contrast) It competes a little with your lamp and is very jarring against that black..(simultaneous contrast again). I suggest that you keep the window, but tone down the light coming through it .to a soft candlelight type glow. It will "read" better and also give it a feeling of cozy warmth inside the house. If you have it, put a soft glaze of Indian Yellow over your window. Here is something to remember for your many paintings to come" ....try to avoid perfect squares (your window) when constructing shapes. ..
What a peaceful and lovely nocturnal painting! Cristina, I just want to stroll through the rain without an umbrella to that welcoming light, absorbing the tranquility that is there. Great use of color and transitions. You've created depth that takes me way to the back, while wondering where it leads beyond. Very nice.
this is awesome !!!
Nicely done, Cristina! Lovely colours, light and atmosphere :-))
