Thank you Manneherrin! I am sorry I just see the comment you left here. Thank you!
Jeri, Thank you say such nice thing on my painting! I learnt to capture most important part of scene when I am painting out. Some times I just left sky or water to studio if I dont have time to finish on site.
What impresses me about you Laura is that you have completed so much of this painting in one session outdoors? You have captured the main idea which is what I am learning is the most important part of plein air painting. The barn is my complete focus. Then I look around the rest of the painting. What I have learned by studying Richard Schmid's work and his books, is that you don't have to complete a whole painting when painting outside. That alone, freed me up to enjoy painting outside. Before I was struggling to finish everything in spite of feeling tired, hot, cold, wind blown, wind tossed and ready to give up doing plein air at all! Thank God because I too want to learn much more than studio painting from photos! Great job. Love it.
I keep waiting for a grandpa to walk out of that old barn. Makes me want to explore this place and sip on an ice tea under that shade tree. Very inviting.
You have grown so much since the last time I was on this site. The character in your paintings are unique to you. Wonderful use of shadow/light. Keep it up girlfriend!
Thank you Silvana!
Beautiful!
Wow! Thank you so much Pauline, Thomas, Jessica, Stu! I am so happy to have many artist friends here like you all! Thank you for your encouragement and supportive!
Thomas, again I really appreciate your comment. I like hard comment, that can help me understand better than I thought. That is the way to learn. Every plein air painting to me is a story. I have many many small study paintings around me. They remind me the mistakes, and storys. I enjoy your work very much!
Great comment Thomas! You are absolutely correct in my opinion. Every plein air outing is in itself a unique experience and other than minor tweaks and defect corrections working on the painting indoors in a different light and without the direct visualization of the scene really spoils that spontaneity experienced outdoors. To expect to finish everything indoors prohibits growth and improvement in one's plein air work in my opinion.
I am admiring this painting, Laura; such a beautiful scene - your work just gets better & better! Honestly, I love it the way it is!
