If you do definitely stop on Vancouver island you will see so much like NZ

No I've never got to that part of the world though we are thinking of a trip to Alaska next year.

I didn't go that far south so I guess that is why I didn't know the names. Perhaps another trip is in the wind. Have you ever been to British Columbia. Our scenery is much like NZ
I think that is why I like NZ so much a variety of geography and seasons. Now that I know the general area I will map google. Thank you

Glenorchy is near Queenstown on the Western side of the South Island and Wanaka is a little more central and about an hours' drive North from Queenstown. They are both in Central Otago with that desert dry heat in summer and cold and snow in winter. It's a great skiing and climbing area. - that's my travel brochure bit! There are some stunning mountain and lake views.

Where exactly is glenorcy and wanaka, I ve been to NZ a couple of times but don't recognize those names. We have great fall couloirs here as well of which I have done some paintings .

Thank you Diana - I haven't used a knife much but it was fun trying. I was down in Wanaka - not too far from Glenorchy last Autumn and the trees were flaming. Three colours are a bit limiting but I was trying for that brightness and air clarity.
