I can smell the air, here the water, and feel the afternoon warmth on my skin. There's a slight breeze which adds movement to the trees and grass.  This painting "lives."

Susan, lovely capture of afternoon light.  The only thing a notice that doesn't look quite right is the top of the rocks over on the left are too bright for shade and not golden enough for your late afternoon sun effect.  If you warm them up, put some warm light on the water there.  If you cool them a little they will be fine.  Nit-picky, huh?  Wish I could see stuff like that in my paintings before I think they are finished.  Overall, a beautiful painting.  Thank you for sharing all three of your paintings with us.  Ditto to Deb's comment; it is fun watching the paintings come in.  Stu

The light is beautiful, has a real late afternoon feel. I really like your crop of the pic too.

This is the final version of my second workshop painting.  I have done some further glazing to put more emphasis on the tree on the right hand side.  I also decided to crop the painting down to a rectangular format - although I did like the rocky, flowing stream, the composition just didn't seem right.  Sorry to inflict three photos on you in this process - I was going to delete the other two, but then thought that the revision process might be of interest to some.
