Thank you for taking the time to post. I have been unsure as to what to do in that area. I had hoped the leaves would lead you off into the sort of mysterious garden background....but i am not sure it works.

Great painting Phyllis!!  You move us to the focal point and the light very effectively.   Is this painting completed?  The reason I ask is because the leaves at the end of the stem look kind of "ghostly" ..like you are intending to resolve them ..? ..just curious.  I love the painting!! :))
