Thanks Nancy, those are pesky boats, I need a lot more practice on them. I may just paint them out and drown them in water. :)
Thanks Cristina for your kind words.
Thanks Michael for your compliments, and advise about the boats, I think I kind of lost it with the boats, but I did enjoy the water.
Your buildings are well "constructed" , and your water is sparkling and lovely. I think it would help if you practiced drawing those pesky boats before painting them. They are truly a challenge, aren't they?
Joyful!! Beautifully done Sherry!!
Very nice Sherry. I like the variations you have in the water. Very good gradation in the water. Your distant buildings and beach are quite well done!! ..just make sure some light is hitting the sides of those buildings. When you paint the boats, concentrate more on getting accurate drawing and value ....stay away from thinking about doing all of those tiny little details you put on the boats ...get the other stuff first. :)
Thanks Olivia, I didn't have the phthalo blue either, I had to cheat some with ultra marine blue, and phtalo turquoise and yellow. but at least we tried.
Great job Sherry. I also had trouble getting the aqua blue as my phthalo was nothing like as bright as the Cobra one used by Richard.
I cheated a bit and added a touch of phthalo green
hi ann,
to be honest I did the shapes of light and shadows with the boats but I did struggles, so I went back over them with line, just trying to define the shapes. I am not that experience with buildings either (guess that is why I am here), but it was fun in the process. glad you like my water, that is also one of my goals to do water better.
Good start. You tend to outline your shapes. You will have more success if you think in shapes of light and shadow It shows that you enjoyed yourself. I think your water is the best part of the painting it sparkles !
