I tried this painting again and changed a few things...a little busy in the background now, but maybe the figure is better?

Very nice painting Caroline. I like the background on the previous painting, but overall, I like this painting more. they are both very good though!! There is something about the figure and the kayak I really like ...the intense color among the grays, I guess? I love the way you have us "interact" with the kayaker
