Thank you, Glenys!

I really like this piece, I get Michael's comments, but when the sun shines like in this one, I'd hang it in my place.

Lovely Joy, for such a complicated composition.

Hi Siobhan ...very glad to hear that was a help to you! :)  Misspells or typos ... no big deal ...  I knew what you meant with fa cats .. now if you had typed fat cats .... that might be a different story.  :)))

Great Joy!!!

Hi Siobhan! What I do is copy the message, delete it, paste it in a new comment and there I correct the misspell....(if I realize in time)

Hmmm anyone know how to edit mispelt comments once they're posted?

That was useful information Micheal , I didn't know those fa cats about values. I'm still struggling to understand values so your critique was very helpful for overs too.

Michael, This was my first attempt at a purely architectural. I usually do landscapes perhaps with a building here or there. I am always learning what makes a better painting so I really appreciate the suggestions. I'll try all these tips on my next one.

HI Joy. I agree with comments of everyone.  I would like to add a suggestion.  I noticed that you are painting your lights and shadow planes with warm and cool ..which is good ..but ... you are using the same value for both.  There is a lost illusion of light when you do this .... there is more of a decorative aspect in this piece.  Is this what you are after?  Joy, when everything is the same value (as this piece is), the scene flattens out .. so we do not have the illusion of reality ..i.e.  form, depth, light. ...   Anyway, I am not being judgemental .. that is why I asked if this was your intention?

Thank you, Siobhan. I really like the idea of blue flowers next to the orange door. There is a path that intersects the road where it appears to turn a corner, so I probably needed to make it a bit more evident. I will incorporate your suggestions into my future paintings. :-)
