Acrylic 8x10. This is a picture of my son walking on the jetty by our house here on Cape Cod. I'm thinking of taking the red of the buoy down a notch or two; I think it's a bit distracting.

Thanks, Michael!  Great suggestion--like a lot of self-taught artists, I learned to paint before I learned to draw--so now I'm playing catch up with the basics!

Very good work Susan! .... I agree with Joy about the placement of the buoy ...if you do that, do not put it in the middle of the figure and sign ..more toward the figure.  Susan, I assume you have the reference photo ...look at your son very carefully and with a scratch piece of canvas ...paint  a bunch ...and I mean a whole lot ....of practice sketches.  After a hundred or so of those oil sketches of the figure, your right brain and brush will be as one...  Maybe ask your son to make this same pose and sketch it?  I will always do this before painting a figure or animal.
