Oil on paper 9 by 12 inch.  Preliminary study for larger work 18" by 24" .   I worked out the composition from my photo references and transferred my sketch by breaking this into 8 different photos and printing them in black and white, pasting them together and transferring the sketch onto the 18" by 24" canvas using transfer paper.  I then solidified my sketch with a brush and acrylics and put a coat of gesso over it.   The sketch was visible through the gesso and I worked from both my sketch and my reference photos to develop the final painting.
