Acrylic on canvas 13 1/2" x 10 1/2". I'm currently about 400km west of where I live in a regional town called Goondiwindi. My husband and I travelled here for an art show in which I have some entries. This lagoon/dam is just a few metres from our campsite. I didn't paint it en plein air, but from a photograph that I took yesterday. The conditions were very challenging for acrylics as it's very hot and dry and the paint was drying almost instantly - no chance of blending. Still, I'm pleased I gave it a try. I'll bring oils next time!

Thank you for your lovely comments Candi. No, I don't conduct classes. I'm more likely to attend them! But I do find that acrylics are a pretty good medium to use. However, I remember when I did this painting that it was very hot indeed and I had a lot of trouble with the paint drying too fast. That's one of the problems with acrylics - especially in hot weather.
Love it! Had no idea you could achieve something like this with acrylics! Do you conduct classes?! I'll have to check out Roger Bansemer's site!
Thank you Diane for your very kind comment.
Thank you also to Jon and Ann for your comments about Roger Bansemer and how to keep the acrylics wet. I have looked up this artist and there is an awful lot on his website which looks very interest. So I'm going to work my way through it. Thank you very much for your help.
Lovely
I also like Roger Bansemer for plein air information. His program is on a public station here Thur morning at 9:00. I have my Tvo set and watch it when I need encouragement to go out and paint. I only do oils but it is still good information
Colleen, Roger Bansemer (nice little videos he has on his site there - I love him) constantly sprays them with a spray bottle (I used an empty and rinsed window cleaning liquid one).... ? ...?
Thank you Olivia and Larissa for your lovely comments.
Larissa, it's a constant problem of mine. So I'm not the one to ask. I know that I can add slow drying medium and also water, but I don't think anything much would have helped the other day. When the air is very dry and hot, acrylics are a problem!
This exactly I wanted to ask somebody: how to paint with acrylic en plein air, because it's drying to fast. But anyway this painting is nice. And reflection with green and lavender is lovely.
Beautiful.Looks so tranquil
Thank you very much Saghi.
