I think my adjustments were a bit too heavy handed - subtle shifts are enough. The glazing was weird - it didn't feel like "proper" painting. I'll call this one my effort for the workshop. Oil on canvas 50 x 65 cm approx.

Stu, thanks - but that's your tonalist side coming through! I think I've been too heavy handed - and I had written it off - but now, I'm starting to wonder..... stand by
Jon, I think this improved it some, but perhaps a little warmer yellows on the far buildings could have worked a little better. I believe that what you did when you painted over the bright yellows with and opaque gray is termed scumbling rather than glazing. Glazing is the application of a darker, usually transparent pigment over a lighter color and scumbling is the application of a lighter opaque or semitransparent color over a darker color. You have a bit of a spotlight effect where the sun comes through and this pleasantly leads the eye back into the painting and around the buildings. The tall tree on the left stops the eye from wandering out of the painting as does the larger tree on the right. I definitely like this better after your changes. Stu
