Thank you.  Yes, Michael, you are going to learn it all at the VAA.  In Form 3 you are going to learn to give form by changing the hue and not the value and the sparkle you are going to learn under  Color, how to mix Grays.  Also notice I only used 5 values.  That is why you are going to do many 4 and 5 value studies!  Here is my notan and 5 value study:

The thick texture of the paint makes the painting sparkle. Color of light and shadow is great

Aurelia, great painting!! ..It looks as if you've got the luminous light and shadow thing down pretty good.  Am I going to learn how to do this somewhere down the VAA line?  You know, I really admire how you handle those warm reflected lights into the cool shadow of the animals ....everyone should notice how you change the hue, not the value on those reflections ...and the same thing on the ground plane ..warm/cool, but same value.  Good job.
