Is it just me, or do each of Richard's assignments become more and more challenging?

Dorian, Thank you so much.  You are right...I am happy, honored and thrilled all at the same time.  I hope you had a truly happy Thanksgiving out of town.  I am looking forward to our out of doors plein aire adventure.  Painting at sunset will be a true challenge.  I have done paint-outs but never by myself, always with other artists.  I am excited and a little apprehensive all at the same time.  What a challenge!  :-)

Ningning, Thank you too.  We are all being educated and learn so many things with each workshop, but you are able to express what you see with your eyes.  Yes, we will and do help each other.  xo

Nancy, I am very happy for you. Thank you for your nice words about me.  I have been educated here for more than 2 years abd should learned something.  My eyes are shaper now but my hands are still weak. We help each other.

Thank you, Li. No one could have been more surprised than me to see my work as one Richard chose to critique. His comments mirrored some of yours. How terrific is that? You are so good at critiquing that you could be an art teacher yourself. I think all of his comments on paintings are a help to us all. Aren't we lucky to be involved in the great workshop?

Thank you so much, dear friend, for taking the time to make these suggestions.  There were a number of things that were really bothering me about the work.  That glow at the bottom of the curving wave is something I didn't notice until I uploaded it.  I think, with your suggestions, I will definitely need to  work on it some more.  Thank you too for your best wishes for this holiday.  I don't know if you celebrate, but I am thankful for you.

Nancy, Thank you for your trust as a real friend. I find that your high light on the waves  and water are so impressively well done and make waves and water movement very realistic.. If I have to be picky I will say that there are something  I would modify a bit. They are just a degree matter. The skycould be warmmer amd lighter to contract the cool and  blueish water to get more drama and contrast. the darker part of the bottom of the big waves at the right(that yellow colour  patch) could be gradually reach up a bit more so that it looks more naturally curved and make the light only goes through the upper part of the waves. The big rocks at the left could have more light on their right side as the sun light can reach those part. The down part of those two rocks also could have some light on it but much cooler and darker. Again, every thing is only a matter of degree . Somebody may view it just the opposite.  I really think that you did a great job. I hope that I am not a friend in need a friend mislead. I hope that Richard would critic on this beautiful work . I am curious what is his view. By the way, Nancy, Happy Thanksgiving Day to you!

I don't know where "cries" came from  :-)))  Yes I did mean critiques.  I hope you do point out some things that could improve this painting, Li. You always have such a great way of analyzing.  Thank you.

Cries? Do you mean critiques? I came back to check your work again and hoped that I could be a critic and point out something not correct. the composition, value, colour brush stroke...I still think it is very well done job. I hope that people have more knowledge of painting can help you. So that I can learn too.
