10 x 10 inches, oil on canvas
My first workshop entry. I like my water, composition and rock faces but had the greatest difficulty with that rock out in the water and the foreground. Looking forward to your suggestions.

I agree.  I redid it in Mountains of Gold #2.  Did you happen to take a look?  I appreciate your interest.

All good except the drawing of the little rocky island - have another look at that.

I love the colour variations in your large cliff and the way the front cliff glows,  your sea is beautiful!

I do really like the foreground cliff - nice confident brushwork as well!

This is lovely! I would simplify the rock, the two protrusions coming forward are very similar in shape so you could combine them or lose them all together. Nice work on the cliffs and the beach!

Ha ha. Youre not alone in getting wrapped up in details!  I think you've done a great job of the cliffs and the sand - nice colour, good variation and actually not too overworked, I think. You caught the essence of the highlights as well. I look forward to your next one!

Nice paint apllication/brushwork - eg in the sea - great! - as the others say, Michael's comments are of great value - I keep a file of them :)

Hi Debbie, I think you have a really good start for this workshop!  Main thing that is noticed right off, like you mentioned, is the size of that rock.  Lucky you to be critiqued by Michael!  Take everything he says to heart, you can really learn from him!  I  always feel so very fortunate when he critiques my work!
