Thanks for the lead Stu. I checked him out and i like his work. I thought that was wrong, you know when you know something doesn't look right....P:-)
Pauline, there is nothing wrong with gouache (we both spelled it wrong); just the watercolor purists criticize it; all you have to do is refer to it as "gouache" and they leave you alone. I think that because of all your acrylic work, it may be your new medium. Check out Larry Seiler's blog at: http://larryseiler.blogspot.com/ He paints a lot in gouache and teaches in the medium. Stu
Thanks Stu, yes its a bit of a cheat, but it gets the required results. In this kind of painting you need to be spontaneous and planning all the white bits just doesn't do it for me! Thanks for all your wonderful support Stu :-)))
Thank you Donna and mario:-))
I like it...light contrast area beautiful....exactly is very difficult to work the white...but you do it very well.
This is so nice. I wish I could do watercolour better.
I kind of suspected the guache, but respectfully did not ask. In my limited experience with watercolor, it is incredibly difficult to reserve all those white and near white fine brush strokes with "pure" transparent watercolor. However, you ability to negative paint increases tremendously. Keep up the good work, Pauline. Stu
Thank you Jessica and Stu, the whites are helped along with the addition of white guache on this one!
Really well done - this must have been very difficult in watercolour, keeping all those whites - you've done the hair beautifully. What a cute dog!
